MapVision puts Radio Maps on the web
The Radio Advertising Bureau’s job is to guide national advertisers and their agencies towards effective advertising on Commercial Radio. Funded by commercial radio stations but independent of them; their web site www.rab.co.uk is the leading source of information on making effective use of radio advertising.
They wanted their customers to be able to design maps interactively via their website and sent us an eighteen page specification for what they needed. We were able to supply them a customised MapVision web:mapper application that fulfilled their requirements.
Web visitors see all stations relevant to them, free of charge. You can select and map any combination of stations by station name, Rajar region, sales point, digital multiplex and place name. As well as displaying additional map layers, like roads and place names. Translucent shading and differing border styles show areas of overlap. These are automatically chosen to make the map as readable as possible. Maps can be cut and pasted into PowerPoint, adding instant visual impact to any presentation.
MapVision is a great way to add mapping to your website. It works without needing you to install plug-ins and it can serve high quality, interactive maps. Once you have the map you requested you can change it in the browser without anymore contact with the server it was requested from - MapVision scales easily to cope with high volume applications like that of the RAB.
It has been made possible by recent advances in web technology. The combination of extensible mark up language with new graphics formats enables effortless web-based mapping.
