PostView postcode boundaries
PostView plots postcodes. Whilst that's not an easy sentence to say, using PostView data is just that: easy!
PostView provides postcode boundaries for the UK, broken down into sectors, districts and areas. By installing PostView in a geographic information system (GIS) such as Prospex you can configure postcode boundary data alongside other geographical datasets to create postcode boundary catchments.
What can I use PostView for?
Create and display your own catchment areas made up of postcodes sectors, districts or areas using PostView within any GIS.
Show store catchments, media areas or drive time catchments for example newspaper circulation areas, radio TSAs or local authority boundaries.
How much does it cost?

Boundaries are available in MapInfo (MID/MIF) and ESRI Shape formats.

Postcode geography explained
YO23 2UE: Every address in the UK has a postcode shared between, on average, 15 houses.
YO23 2: All addresses sharing the same sector code fill a geographic area defined by a postcode sector boundary (around 3000 houses).
YO23: All postcode sectors with the same district code are grouped to form a postcode district boundary.There are 3,078 districts in the UK.
YO: All postcode districts with the same area code can be grouped to form a postcode area boundary.The country is divided into 124 areas, each containing around 24 districts.
