Geocoding: Find postcodes and grid references PostView Points is a basic geographical lookup table accurate to 1m. It plots postcodes on a map and calculates the crow fly distance between all UK postcodes helping businesses and customers answer questions such as 'Where is my nearest... from my location'.

We ensure all our postcode files are kept up-to-date by always working with the latest Royal Mail data and, being the nice geeks that we are, we also include a free database of all past postcode changes enabling you to clean any address database.

Alternatively, you can buy the postcode updates file, contatining all recorded postcode changes since 1990, separately.

Want grid references and longitude/latitude co-ordinates?

PostView Points Simple gives the grid reference and long/lat co-ordinates for every available UK postcode. This enables you to import your location data into Bing / Google maps via their API.

PostView Points Complex gives the grid reference, locality, settlement and county data. Longitude and latitude coordinates can also be supplied with this data. This level of detail allows you to conduct postcode to town searches or find the postcode area a known place name is within.

Need a placename to postcode lookup table?

PostView Places Advanced uses a gazeteer from Collins Bartholomew to describe the nearest place name to each postcode within the UK calculated using crow fly / straight line distance.

This means you get a much more detailed dataset in that every postcode is associated with a placename. This can be used for spatial lookups such as ‘where’s my nearest…’ where a more robust model is needed than simply entering a known postcode.

Need a nearest street to postcode lookup table?

PostView Streets, describes the nearest postcode to each street with associated settlement and locality fields. This can be used to calculate journeys from a street name to a particular postcode, for a taxi company, for example. Alternatively you may want to sit this data behind street view on a raster map / website to provide rapid response services.

Need to label a geographic sector by centre and / or postcode density?

PostView Centroids provide geographical label points for each postcode sector weighted so that each label sits well within the boundary, making your maps easier and clearer to understand. If you don't know the full postcode, centroids will take you to a sensible place within the specified area or district. This can be particulalry useful for checking errors in data or for assisting your customers and prospects when completing web forms.

Being BD (and obviously fanatical about geography) we also offer a postcode weighted version whereby the label for each centroid is skewed towards the more densely populated areas. This allows more efficient targeting. For example, direct mailings can be sent to those areas within a sector where there are the most letterboxes.
