When Carlton Screen Advertising was sold to DCM (Digital Cinema Media), it was the perfect opportunity for the market leader in UK cinema advertising to review their systems and processes. Mapping projects were top of this list.
DCM receive requests such as ‘where is my nearest cinema?’ or ‘can you map all cinemas within a given postcode and plot a 20-minute drive-time catchment?’. Although such requests were infrequent, each run and the reports that had to be generated were proving complex and time-consuming with traditional GIS software.
Of course, BD had the solution. We developed a bespoke online webservice which allows DCM to upload a series of postcodes and receive an automated series of analyses… all at the click of a button. The results, in the form of maps and data can also be downloaded for further manipulation once processed. No more headaches over who can use the software, being fixed to a desktop solution or time constraints!
