The challenge
AMT-SYBEX is a Consultancy, Systems Technology and Managed Service Provider focused on improving business performance for the utilities, transport, defence and public sector industries.
For a large client within the electricity industry, their Engineering Services business sends surveyors to hundreds of sub station sites that have to be visited to undertake pre-construction hazard and condition surveys against a monthly schedule throughout the year.
AMT-SYBEX recently started this work with a new client in a region that they were unfamiliar with so were unsure about travel times to and from sites and the best routing around the sites. They needed a system that would improve their routing efficiency and ensure that surveyor visits did not have to be rescheduled because they ran out of time.
The solution
After seeing a live demonstration of the software using their data, AMT-SYBEX chose Prospex because it quickly and easily scheduled surveyor visits in an efficient and clear order.
They import a list of sites that need to be visited and scenario plan, defining the length of day and the amount of time spent at each sub station. The schedule is then exported to Excel and imported into AMT-SYBEX's work management system.
In addition to scheduling, the software also has a mapping function which means that not only are they able plan the most efficient order to make visits, but they are also able create maps of these schedules. These are supplied to the surveyors so they have a clear geographical view of the visits they need to make that day, week or month.
Wall maps are produced for the office so the whole team can monitor and review the performance and maps are also used in presentations to the Board to update them on the team's progress.
